Hook
- I built a little word search this afternoon. No client, no brief, just felt like it.
- This is the kind of thing I make when nobody's asked me to.
- Spent my afternoon building a word search. Here's how it came out.
Body
So, here's what I've been up to today.
I've noticed a few apps that give you a reason to come back every day. Wordle, from the New York Times. The BBC's got one right now where you guess the player during the World Cup. Even LinkedIn has little daily games now.
So I thought, let me build one.
A word search. And maybe it's something I turn into a daily thing, I'd just pick a fun topic each time, something you can challenge yourself on.
You set the difficulty by changing the size of the grid and how many words are hidden. There's a timer on it too, so you can see how fast you are.
Let me play around with it, and we'll customise one together.
This is the part of the job I actually love. Messing about with an idea just to see if it works.
CTA
- Comment the first word you spot in the grid.
- How fast can you solve it? Drop your time in the comments.
- I'm going to keep building silly little things like this. Tell me what I should make next.
